1Stalo se pak jednoho dne, že řekl Jonata syn Saulův služebníku, kterýž nosil zbroj jeho: Poď, půjdeme k stráži Filistinských, kteráž jest na oné straně. Ale otci svému toho nepověděl.2Saul však zůstával na kraji pahrbku pod jabloní zrnatou, kteráž byla v Migron; a lidu, kterýž byl s ním, bylo okolo šesti set mužů,3Tolikéž Achiáš syn Achitobův, bratra Ichabodova, syna Fínesova, syna Elí, kněze Hospodinova v Sílo, kterýž nosil efod. Ale lid nevěděl, že by odšel Jonata.4Mezi těmi pak průchody, jimiž pokoušel se Jonata přejíti k stráži Filistinských, byla skála příkrá k přecházení s této strany, též skála příkrá k přecházení s oné strany; jméno jedné Bóses, a jméno druhé Seneh.5Jedna skála byla na půlnoci proti Michmas, a druhá na poledne proti Gabaa.6I řekl Jonata služebníku, kterýž nosil zbroj jeho: Poď, přejděme k stráži těch neobřezaných, snad bude Hospodin s námi; neboť není nesnadné Hospodinu zachovati ve mnoze aneb v mále.7Odpověděl oděnec jeho: Učiň, cožkoli jest v srdci tvém, obrať se, kam chceš; aj, budu s tebou podlé vůle tvé.8I řekl Jonata: Aj, my jdeme k mužům těm, a ukážeme se jim.9Jestliže řeknou nám takto: Počkejte, až přijdeme k vám, stůjme na místě svém, a nechoďme k nim.10Pakli by řekli takto: Vstupte k nám, jděme, nebo vydal je Hospodin v ruku naši. To zajisté nám bude za znamení.11Ukázali se tedy oba dva stráži Filistinských. I řekli Filistinští: Hle, Hebrejští lezou z děr, v nichž se byli skryli.12I mluvili někteří z stráže té k Jonatovi a k oděnci jeho, a řekli: Vstupte k nám, a povíme vám něco. Pročež řekl Jonata k oděnci svému: Podiž za mnou, nebo je vydal Hospodin v ruku Izraele.13A tak lezl čtvermo Jonata a oděnec jeho za ním. I padali před Jonatou, a oděnec jeho mordoval je, jda za ním.14A to byla porážka první, v níž zbil Jonata a oděnec jeho okolo dvadcíti mužů, jako v půl honech rolí dvěma volům s zápřež.15Protož byl strach v tom ležení a na tom poli, i na všem tom lidu; strážní i oni loupežníci děsili se též, až se země třásla, nebo byla v strachu Božím.16A vidouce strážní Saulovi v Gabaa Beniaminově, oznámili, jak množství to narůzno prchá, a vždy více se potírá.17Saul pak řekl lidu, kterýž s ním byl: Vyhledejte i hned a zvězte, kdo jest z našich odšel. A když vyhledávali, hle, Jonaty nebylo a oděnce jeho.18I řekl Saul Achiášovi: Postav sem truhlu Boží. (Truhla pak Boží toho času byla s syny Izraelskými.)19I stalo se, když ještě mluvil Saul k knězi, že hřmot, kterýž byl v vojště Filistinských, více se rozcházel a rozmáhal. Protož řekl Saul knězi: Spusť ruku svou.20Shromáždili se tedy Saul i všecken lid, kterýž s ním byl, a přišli až k té bitvě; a aj, byl meč jednoho proti druhému s hřmotem velmi velikým.21Hebrejští pak někteří byli s Filistinskými prvé, kteříž táhli s nimi polem sem i tam; i ti také obrátili se a stáli při lidu Izraelském, kterýž byl s Saulem a s Jonatou.22Všickni také muži Izraelští, kteříž se skryli na hoře Efraim, když uslyšeli, že by utíkali Filistinští, honili je i oni v té bitvě.23I vysvobodil Hospodin toho dne Izraele. Boj pak protáhl se až do Betaven.24A ačkoli muži Izraelští utrápili se toho dne, však Saul zavázal lid s přísahou, řka: Zlořečený muž, kterýž by jedl chléb prvé, než bude večer, a než se pomstím nad nepřátely svými. A tak neokusil všecken lid chleba.25Všecken pak lid té krajiny šli do lesa, kdež bylo hojnost medu po zemi.26A když všel lid do lesa, viděl tekoucí med; žádný však nepřičinil k ústům svým ruky své, nebo se bál lid té přísahy.27Ale Jonata neslyšev, že otec jeho zavazoval lid přísahou, vztáhl hůl, kterouž měl v ruce své, a omočil konec její v plástu medu, a obrátil ruku svou k ústům svým; i osvítily se oči jeho.28Odpovídaje pak jeden z lidu, řekl: Velikou přísahou zavázal otec tvůj lid, řka: Zlořečený muž, kterýž by jedl chléb dnes, ačkoli zemdlel lid.29Tedy řekl Jonata: Zkormoutil otec můj lid země. Pohleďte, prosím, jak se osvítily oči mé, hned jakž jsem okusil maličko medu toho.30Čím více kdyby se byl směle najedl dnes lid z loupeží nepřátel svých, kterýchž dosáhl? Nebyla-liž by se nyní stala větší porážka Filistinských?31A tak bili toho dne Filistinské od Michmas až do Aialon; i ustal lid náramně.32Protož obrátil se lid k loupeži, a nabravše ovcí a volů i telat, zbili je na zemi; i jedl lid se krví.33I pověděli Saulovi, řkouce: Aj, lid hřeší proti Hospodinu, jeda se krví. Kterýž řekl: Přestoupili jste přikázaní. Přivaltež i hned ke mně kámen veliký.34Opět řekl Saul: Rozejděte se mezi lid a rcete jim: Přiveďte ke mně jeden každý vola svého a jeden každý dobytče své, a bíte tuto a jezte, i nebudete hřešiti proti Hospodinu, jedouce se krví. Přivedli tedy všecken lid jeden každý vola svého rukou svou té noci a zabíjeli tu.35Vzdělal také Saul oltář Hospodinu; to nejprvnější oltář udělal Hospodinu.36Potom řekl Saul: Pusťme se po Filistinských v noci, a budeme je loupiti až do jitra, aniž zůstavujme z nich koho. Kteříž řekli: Cožť se koli vidí za dobré, učiň. Ale kněz řekl: Přistupme sem k Bohu.37I tázal se Saul Boha: Pustím-li se za Filistinskými? Dáš-li je v ruku Izraelovu? I neodpověděl mu v ten den.38Protož řekl Saul: Přistupujte sem všecka knížata lidu, a vyzvězte a vyhledejte, kdo se jest dopustil dnes hříchu nějakého?39Nebo živť jest Hospodin, kterýž vysvobozuje Izraele, že byť pak i na Jonatovi synu mém to bylo, smrtí umře. I neodpověděl jemu žádný ze všeho lidu.40Řekl také všemu Izraelovi: Buďte vy na jedné straně, já pak a Jonata syn můj budeme na druhé straně. Odpověděl lid Saulovi: Učiň, cožť se za dobré vidí.41Protož řekl Saul Hospodinu Bohu Izraelskému: Ukaž spravedlivě. I přišlo na Jonatu a Saule, lid pak z toho vyšel.42I řekl Saul: Vrzte los mezi mnou a mezi Jonatou synem mým. A postižen jest Jonata.43Řekl tedy Saul Jonatovi: Pověz mi, co jsi učinil? I pověděl mu Jonata a řekl: Toliko jsem okusil maličko medu koncem holi, kterouž jsem měl v ruce své, a aj, proto-liž mám umříti?44Odpověděl Saul: Toto učiň mi Bůh a toto přidej, že smrtí umřeš, Jonato.45I řekl lid Saulovi: Což tedy umříti má Jonata, kterýž učinil vysvobození toto veliké v Izraeli? Odstup to, živť jest Hospodin, že nespadne vlas s hlavy jeho na zemi, poněvadž s pomocí Boží učinil to dnes. I vyprostil lid Jonatu, tak aby nebyl usmrcen.46Tedy odtáhl Saul od Filistinských; Filistinští také navrátili se k místu svému.47Saul pak uvázav se v království nad Izraelem, bojoval vůkol se všemi nepřátely svými, s Moábskými a s syny Ammon, a s Edomem, i s králi Soba, a s Filistinskými; a kamž se koli obracel, ukrutnost provodil.48Sebrav také vojska, porazil Amalecha, a vysvobodil Izraele z ruky zhoubců jeho.49Byli pak synové Saulovi: Jonata a Jesui a Melchisua; a jména dvou dcer jeho, jméno prvorozené Merob, jméno pak mladší Míkol.50A jméno manželky Saulovy Achinoam, dcera Achimaasova; jméno pak hejtmana vojska jeho Abner, syn Ner, strýce Saulova.51Nebo Cis byl otec Saulův, a Ner otec Abnerův, syn Abielův.52Byla pak válka veliká s Filistinskými po všecky dny Saulovy, protož kohožkoli Saul viděl muže silného, a kohokoli udatného, bral ho k sobě.
— Vítězství nad Pelištejci - Jónatan ničí postavení Pelištejců a vnáší paniku do jejich ležení; bezděky přestupuje Saulův příkaz o postu.
1 Jednoho dne vyzval Jónatan, syn Saulův, mládence, svého zbrojnoše: „Pojď, pronikneme k postavení Pelištejců tamhle naproti.“ Svému otci to však neoznámil.2 Saul se usadil na úpatí pahorku pod granátovníkem v Migrónu. Lidu s ním bylo na šest set mužů.3 Achijáš, syn Achítúba, bratra Íkábóda, syna Pinchasa, syna Élího, Hospodinova kněze v Šílu, nosil efód. Lid ovšem nevěděl, že Jónatan odešel.4 V průsmyku, kterým se Jónatan snažil proniknout nad postavení Pelištejců, byl skalní útes z jedné strany i skalní útes z druhé strany; jeden se jmenoval Bóses a druhý Sené.5 Jeden útes byl jako pilíř na severu naproti Mikmásu, druhý na jihu naproti Gebě. 6 Jónatan tedy vyzval mládence, svého zbrojnoše: „Pojď, pronikneme k postavení těch neobřezanců. Snad pro nás Hospodin něco udělá. Vždyť Hospodinu nemůže nic zabránit, aby zachránil ať skrze mnoho nebo skrze málo.“7 Zbrojnoš mu odpověděl: „Udělej všechno, co máš na mysli. Jen vpřed! Já budu s tebou podle tvé vůle.“ 8 Jónatan rozhodl: „Pronikneme k těm mužům a znenadání se před nimi objevíme.9 Jestliže nás vyzvou: ‚Nehýbejte se, dokud k vám nedorazíme,‘ zůstaneme na místě a nepůjdeme k nim nahoru.10 Jestliže však řeknou: ‚Pojďte k nám nahoru,‘ půjdeme vzhůru, neboť Hospodin nám je vydal do rukou. To bude pro nás znamením.“ 11 Když se oba objevili před postavením Pelištejců, Pelištejci řekli: „Hle, Hebrejové vylézají z děr, kam se ukryli.“12 Muži z toho postavení vyzvali Jónatana a jeho zbrojnoše: „Pojďte k nám nahoru, něco vám povíme!“ Tu řekl Jónatan svému zbrojnoši: „Vzhůru za mnou! Hospodin je vydal Izraeli do rukou!“13 Jónatan lezl po čtyřech nahoru a za ním jeho zbrojnoš. I padali před Jónatanem a zbrojnoš je za ním pobíjel.14 To byl první úder, kdy Jónatan se svým zbrojnošem pobili kolem dvaceti mužů na polovičním honu pole.15 V nepřátelském táboře, na poli i ve všem lidu, nastalo zděšení; také muži z onoho postavení i záškodníci byli zděšeni a země se chvěla. To zděšení způsobil Bůh.16 I Saulova hlídka v Gibeji Benjamínově viděla, jak hlučící dav zmateně pobíhá sem a tam. 17 Saul rozkázal lidu, který byl s ním: „Dejte nastoupit! Zjistěte, kdo od nás odešel.“ Nastoupili a zjistilo se, že tu není Jónatan a jeho zbrojnoš.18 Saul poručil Achijášovi: „Přines Boží schránu!“ Boží schrána byla totiž toho času mezi Izraelci.19 Zatímco Saul ještě mluvil s knězem, hluk v táboře Pelištejců se dále vzmáhal. Proto Saul poručil knězi: „Stáhni ruku zpět!“20 Saul a všechen lid, který byl s ním, se svolali pokřikem a přišli až k té bitvě. A hle, tam řádil meč jednoho proti druhému, nesmírná hrůza.21 Také Hebrejové z okolí, kteří předtím byli s Pelištejci a s nimi přitáhli do tábora, přidali se k Izraeli, který byl se Saulem a Jónatanem.22 Rovněž všichni izraelští muži, kteří se skrývali v pohoří Efrajimském, jakmile uslyšeli, že se Pelištejci dali na útěk, pustili se v té bitvě za nimi.23 Tak Hospodin zachránil v onen den Izraele. Bitva se přehnala přes Bét-áven.24Když se izraelští muži onoho dne zase sešli, Saul zaklínal lid slovy: „Buď proklet muž, který by do večera, dokud se nepomstím svým nepřátelům, pojedl nějaký pokrm.“ Proto nikdo z lidu žádný pokrm neokusil. 25 Celá země chodívala hledat plástve; med býval na povrchu pole.26 Když lid přišel na plástve, přetékaly medem. Nikdo však nepozdvihl ruku k ústům. Lid se bál té přísahy.27 Ale Jónatan neslyšel, že jeho otec zavázal lid přísahou. Napřáhl hůl, kterou měl v ruce, ponořil její konec do plástve medu a rukou si ji podal k ústům. Hned se mu rozjasnily oči.28 Nějaký muž z lidu se ozval a řekl: „Tvůj otec zavázal lid těžkou přísahou: Buď proklet muž, který by dnes pojedl nějaký pokrm. Proto je lid zemdlen.“29 Jónatan odvětil: „Můj otec přivede do zkázy celou zemi. Jen pohleďte, jak se mi rozjasnily oči, sotva jsem ochutnal trochu toho medu.30 Což teprve, kdyby se dnes mohl lid pořádně najíst z kořisti svých nepřátel, kterou nalezl! Proto teď není možný další úder proti Pelištejcům.“31 Onoho dne pobíjeli Pelištejce od Mikmásu až k Ajalónu a lid byl velmi zemdlen.32 Lid se tedy vrhl na kořist, brali brav i skot i býčky a poráželi je na zemi. Lid jedl maso s krví.33 Saulovi oznámili: „Hle, lid hřeší proti Hospodinu, když jí s krví.“ On vzkřikl: „Zachovali jste se věrolomně. Okamžitě ke mně přivalte veliký kámen.“34 Dále Saul rozkázal: „Rozejděte se mezi lid s výzvou, ať každý ke mně přivede svého býka nebo svou ovci. Tady je porazíte a sníte, abyste nehřešili proti Hospodinu tím, že byste jedli maso s krví.“ Všichni z lidu, každý přivedl té noci svého býka a poráželi je tam.35 A Saul vybudoval Hospodinu oltář. Byl to první oltář, který Hospodinu vybudoval. 36 Saul rozhodl: „V noci vyrazíme za Pelištejci. Až do jitřního úsvitu budeme moci mezi nimi loupit. Ani jednoho z nich neušetříme.“ Odvětili: „Udělej vše, co pokládáš za správné.“ Ale kněz podotkl: „Přistupme sem k Bohu.“37 Saul se doptával Boha: „Mám vyrazit dolů za Pelištejci? Vydáš je Izraeli do rukou?“ Ale on mu onoho dne neodpověděl.38 Proto Saul poručil: „Přistupte sem, všichni vůdcové lidu! Vyzvěďte a zjistěte, jaký hřích byl dnes spáchán.39 Jakože je živ Hospodin, zachránce Izraele, i kdyby šlo o mého syna Jónatana, musí zemřít!“ Ale ze všeho lidu mu nikdo neodpověděl.40 Poručil tedy celému Izraeli: „Vy budete na jedné straně a já se svým synem Jónatanem na straně druhé.“ Lid Saulovi odvětil: „Udělej, co pokládáš za správné.“ 41 Saul řekl Hospodinu: „Bože Izraele, ukaž, kdo není bezúhonný.“ Losem byl postižen Jónatan a Saul, kdežto lid z toho vyvázl.42Saul znovu poručil: „Vrhněte los mezi mnou a mým synem Jónatanem.“ Tu byl označen Jónatan.43 Saul vyzval Jónatana: „Přiznej se mi, co jsi spáchal!“ Jónatan mu to pověděl a doznal: „Koncem hole, kterou jsem měl v ruce, jsem ochutnal trochu medu. Jsem připraven zemřít.“44 Saul řekl: „Ať se mnou Bůh udělá, co chce! Jónatane, ty musíš zemřít!“45 Avšak lid se proti Saulovi ozval: „Jónatan že by měl zemřít? Vždyť připravil Izraeli takové veliké vysvobození! Buď toho dalek! Jakože je živ Hospodin, ani vlásek z hlavy mu nesmí spadnout na zem. S pomocí Boží jednal dnešního dne.“ Tak lid Jónatana vykoupil, že nezemřel. 46 Saul odtáhl od Pelištejců a Pelištejci odešli do svých domovů.
— Saulovo kralování - Výčet Saulových bojů i jeho rodiny.
47 Když se Saul chopil kralování nad Izraelem, bojoval proti všem svým okolním nepřátelům, proti Moábovi, Amónovcům a Edómu, proti králům Sóby a proti Pelištejcům. Všude, kam se obrátil, dopouštěl se svévolností.48 Statečnost však prokázal, když pobil Amáleka a vysvobodil Izraele z rukou těch, kteří ho plenili. 49 Saulovi synové byli Jónatan, Jišví a Malkíšúa. A jména jeho dvou dcer: prvorozená se jmenovala Mérab, mladší pak Míkal.50Saulova žena se jmenovala Achínoam, dcera Achímaasova. Jméno velitele jeho vojska bylo Abínér, syn Néra, strýce Saulova.51 Kíš, Saulův otec, a Nér, otec Abnérův, byli syny Abíelovými. 52 Po všechny dny Saulovy se vedl tuhý boj proti Pelištejcům. Když Saul spatřil nějakého bohatýra a statečného muže, přibral ho k sobě.
1Jednoho dne řekl Saulův syn Jonatan svému zbrojnošovi: „Pojď, pronikneme k té filištínské hlídce tamhle naproti.“ Svému otci to ale neřekl.2(Saul se zatím zdržoval na okraji Gibeje pod granátovníkem u Migronu. Jeho vojsko čítalo asi 600 mužů3včetně Achiáše, který nosil efod.[1] Byl to syn Ichabodova bratra Achituba, syna Pinchase, syna Elího, Hospodinova kněze v Šílu.) O Jonatanově odchodu nikdo nevěděl.4Na obou stranách průsmyku, kterým chtěl Jonatan proniknout k filištínské hlídce, byly skalní útesy. Jeden se jmenoval Bocec a druhý Sene;5jeden se tyčil na severu proti Michmasu, druhý proti Gebě.6„Pojď,“ řekl Jonatan svému zbrojnoši, „pronikneme ke hlídce těch neobřezanců. Snad bude Hospodin při nás. Vždyť Hospodinu není zatěžko zvítězit, ať už jich je mnoho nebo málo.“7„Udělej, cokoli máš na srdci,“ odpověděl mu zbrojnoš. „Obrať se, kam chceš – jsem přece s tebou jedno srdce.“8Jonatan mu na to řekl: „Podívej se, pronikneme k těm mužům a ukážeme se jim.9Jestli nám řeknou: ‚Zastavte se, dokud k vám nedorazíme!‘ zůstaneme na místě a nebudeme k nim šplhat.10Jestliže řeknou: ‚Vylezte k nám!‘ polezeme, protože to pro nás bude znamením, že nám je Hospodin vydal do rukou.“11Oba se tedy ukázali filištínské hlídce a Filištíni si řekli: „Podívejme, Hebrejové lezou z děr, do kterých se schovali.“12Muži z té hlídky pak na Jonatana a jeho zbrojnoše zavolali: „Vylezte k nám a něco vám ukážeme.“ Tehdy Jonatan řekl svému zbrojnoši: „Stoupej za mnou. Hospodin je vydal Izraeli do rukou!“13Jonatan šplhal po čtyřech a zbrojnoš za ním. Filištíni před Jonatanem padali a jeho zbrojnoš je dobíjel.14V této první bitvě pobil Jonatan se svým zbrojnošem asi dvacet mužů na půlakrovém políčku.15Nepřátelské vojsko zachvátila hrůza. Jak v táboře, tak na poli, jak mezi hlídkami, tak v oddílech nájezdníků se všichni třásli strachy. I sama země se chvěla hrůzou z Boha.16Saulovi strážní v Gibeji Benjamínově viděli, jak se to vojsko rozbíhá do všech stran.17Saul řekl svým mužům: „Nastupte a zjistěte, kdo z našich odešel.“ Počítali a hle – chyběl Jonatan a jeho zbrojnoš.18Saul tehdy řekl Achiášovi: „Přines Boží truhlu.“ (Boží truhla totiž tehdy byla mezi Izraelci.)19Zatímco ale Saul hovořil s knězem, hluk ve filištínském táboře rostl stále víc. Saul proto řekl knězi: „Nech to být.“20Saul a jeho muži se shromáždili, vyrazili do bitvy a hle – oni se tam v hrozném zmatku navzájem pobíjeli meči!21Ti Hebrejové, kteří předtím byli s Filištíny a přešli do jejich tábora, se teď přidali k Izraelcům, kteří byli se Saulem a s Jonatanem.22Když se všichni Izraelci ukrytí v Efraimských horách doslechli, že Filištíni utíkají, připojili se i oni k pronásledování a bitvě.
Můj otec škodí zemi
23Tak Hospodin toho dne vysvobodil Izrael. Boj se pak přesunul do Bet-avenu.24Izraelští muži byli toho dne už vysíleni, ale Saul zavázal vojsko touto přísahou: „Zlořečený ten, kdo by okusil pokrm před večerem, dokud se nepomstím svým nepřátelům.“ Nikdo z vojska proto nic nejedl.25Celé vojsko vstoupilo do lesa, kde na zemi ležel med.26Když muži přišli do lesa, uviděli med kanoucí z pláství, ale nikdo z vojska se ho ani nedotkl, aby ho ochutnal, protože se báli té přísahy.27Jonatan ale svého otce neslyšel, když zavázal lid tou přísahou, a tak vztáhl hůl, kterou měl v ruce, a ponořil její konec do plástve medu. Nabral ho, ochutnal a oči se mu rozjasnily.28Jeden z mužů mu tehdy řekl: „Tvůj otec zavázal vojsko přísahou: ‚Zlořečený ten, kdo by dnes okusil pokrm.‘ Proto jsou muži tak vyčerpaní.“29„Můj otec tím škodí zemi,“ řekl na to Jonatan. „Jen se podívejte, jak se mi rozjasnily oči, sotva jsem ochutnal trochu medu.30Co teprve, kdyby se dnes vojsko pořádně najedlo z nepřátelské kořisti? Nebyla by pak porážka Filištínů ještě větší?“31Toho dne pobíjeli Filištíny od Michmasu až po Ajalon a muži byli velmi vyčerpaní.32Proto se vrhli na kořist a brali ovce, dobytek i telata, na místě je poráželi a jedli i s krví.33Saulovi bylo oznámeno: „Hle, vojsko hřeší proti Hospodinu. Jí maso s krví.“ „To je zrada!“ prohlásil Saul. „Hned ke mně přivalte veliký kámen.“34Potom rozkázal: „Rozejděte se do vojska a řekněte jim: Přiveďte každý svého býka nebo ovci ke mně a tady je porážejte a jezte. Nehřešte proti Hospodinu pojídáním masa s krví!“ Každý z vojska tedy té noci přivedl svého býka a porazil ho tam.35Saul tenkrát postavil oltář Hospodinu; bylo to poprvé, co Hospodinu postavil oltář.36Potom Saul prohlásil: „Pojďme! V noci vyrazíme za Filištíny a budeme je plenit až do svítání. Ani jednoho z nich nenecháme!“ „Udělej, jak myslíš,“ odpověděli mu. Kněz ale řekl: „Přistupme sem k Bohu.“37Saul se tedy ptal Boha: „Mám vyrazit za Filištíny? Vydáš je Izraeli do rukou?“ On mu ale toho dne neodpověděl.38Saul proto řekl: „Pojďte sem, všichni vůdcové vojska! Sieg über die Philister
16Die Späher Sauls in Gibea-Benjamin sahen ein Getümmel, das wogte und hin und her lief.17Da sagte Saul zu den Leuten, die bei ihm waren: Prüft und seht nach, wer von unseren Leuten weggegangen ist! Sie prüften und tatsächlich fehlten Jonatan und sein Waffenträger.18Saul sagte zu Ahija: Bring die Lade Gottes her! Denn die Lade war an jenem Tag bei den Israeliten. (Nu 27,20; 1S 7,1)19Während Saul mit dem Priester redete, wurde das Getümmel im Lager der Philister immer größer. Sauls Schwur und Jonatans Rettung
24Die Israeliten gerieten an jenem Tag in Bedrängnis. Darum stellte Saul das Volk unter einen Fluch und sagte: Verflucht sei jeder, der vor dem Abend etwas isst, bevor ich mich an meinen Feinden gerächt habe. Das Volk nahm also bis zum Abend keine Nahrung zu sich. (Jz 6,26)25Das ganze Volk ging in den Wald. Da gab es Honig auf dem Boden des Feldes. (Sd 14,8; Ž 81,17)26Als das Volk in den Wald kam, siehe, da lief Honig dahin, aber niemand streckte seine Hand aus, um etwas davon zu nehmen. Denn das Volk fürchtete den Schwur.27Jonatan aber hatte nicht gehört, wie sein Vater das Volk beschwor. Sauls Kriege. Seine Familie
47Als Saul die Königswürde über Israel erlangt hatte, führte er ringsum mit all seinen Feinden Krieg: mit Moab und den Ammonitern, mit Edom und den Königen von Zoba und mit den Philistern. Wohin er sich auch wandte, war er siegreich.[2] (1S 11,1; 1S 14,16)48Er vollbrachte tapfere Taten, schlug Amalek und befreite Israel aus der Hand derer, die es ausraubten. Saul’s Rash Vow
24And the men of Israel had been hard pressed that day, so Saul had laid an oath on the people, saying, “Cursed be the man who eats food until it is evening and I am avenged on my enemies.” So none of the people had tasted food. (Jz 6,26)25Now when all the people[7] came to the forest, behold, there was honey on the ground.26And when the people entered the forest, behold, the honey was dropping, but no one put his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath.27But Jonathan had not heard his father charge the people with the oath, so he put out the tip of the staff that was in his hand and dipped it in the honeycomb and put his hand to his mouth, and his eyes became bright. (1S 14,43)28Then one of the people said, “Your father strictly charged the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed be the man who eats food this day.’” And the people were faint. For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.19And it came to pass, while Saul talked unto the priest, that the noise that was in the host of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul said unto the priest, Withdraw thine hand.20And Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and, behold, every man' sword was against his fellow, and there was a very great discomfiture.21Moreover the Hebrews that were with the Philistines before that time, which went up with them into the camp from the country round about, even they also turned to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan.22Likewise all the men of Israel which had hid themselves in mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.23So the LORD saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over unto Bethaven.24And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.25And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey upon the ground.26And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.27But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.28Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint.29Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.30How much more, if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?31And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon: and the people were very faint.32And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.33Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day.34And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me hither every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and slay them here, and eat; and sin not against the LORD in eating with the blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and slew them there.35And Saul built an altar unto the LORD: the same was the first altar that he built unto the LORD.36And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.37And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.38And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.39For, as the LORD liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.40Then said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.41Therefore Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel, Give a perfect lot . And Saul and Jonathan were taken: but the people escaped.42And Saul said, Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.43Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I did but taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in mine hand, and , lo, I must die.44And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.45And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.46Then Saul went up from following the Philistines: and the Philistines went to their own place.47So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them .48And he gathered an host, and smote the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of them that spoiled them.49Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishui, and Melchishua: and the names of his two daughters were these ; the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal:50And the name of Saul' wife was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz: and the name of the captain of his host was Abner, the son of Ner, Saul' uncle.51And Kish was the father of Saul; and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.52And there was sore war against the Philistines all the days of Saul: and when Saul saw any strong man, or any valiant man, he took him unto him.
