от Veren1И ГОСПОДНОТО слово беше втори път към Йона и каза:2Стани, иди в големия град Ниневия и му прогласявай проповедта, която ти говоря.3И Йона стана и отиде в Ниневия според словото на ГОСПОДА. А Ниневия беше изключително голям град, който изискваше три дни, за да се обходи.4И Йона започна да ходи в града, на един ден път, и прогласяваше, и казваше: Още четиридесет дни и Ниневия ще бъде разорена!5И жителите на Ниневия повярваха на Бога и прогласиха пост, и се облякоха с вретище, от най-големия им до най-малкия им.6И словото стигна до царя на Ниневия и той стана от престола си и свали одеждата си, и се покри с вретище и седна в праха.7И разгласи и заяви из Ниневия с указ от царя и от големците му, казвайки: Хора и животни, говеда и дребен добитък да не вкусят нищо и да не пасат, и да не пият вода!8И човек, и животно да се покрият с вретище и да викат силно към Бога; и да се върнат всеки от злия си път и от неправдата, която е в ръцете им.9Кой знае, може Бог да се обърне и да се разкае, и да се отвърне от пламтящия Си гняв и да не погинем?10И Бог видя делата им, че се обърнаха от злия си път, и Бог се разкая за злото, което беше говорил, че ще им направи, и не го направи.
1Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying,2“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.” (Йона 1:2)3So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city,[1] three days’ journey in breadth.[2] (Йона 3:2)4Jonah began to go into the city, going a day’s journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!”5And the people of Nineveh believed God. The People of Nineveh Repent
6The word reached[3] the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. (Йов 1:20; Йов 2:8; Ез 26:16)7And he issued a proclamation and published through Nineveh, “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, (Пс 36:6; Дан 6:26; Йоил 1:18; Йоил 1:20; Йона 4:11)8but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. Let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. (Ис 59:6; Ер 18:11; Ер 36:3; Йона 3:7)9Who knows? God may turn and relent and turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.” (2 Цар 12:22; Пс 85:3; Йоил 2:14)10When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it. (Ер 18:8)
