1 Poučný žalm Etana Ezrachejského. I. 2 Hospodine, o tvé lásce chci zpívat napořád, navěky chci svými ústy tvou věrnost zvěstovat! 3 Tvrdím, že tvá láska má věčné základy, nebesa jsou potvrzením tvé věrnosti! 4 Ty přece řekl jsi: „Se svým vyvoleným vstupuji do smlouvy, svému služebníku Davidovi slibuji: 5 Tvé potomstvo ustanovím navěky, po všechna pokolení tvůj trůn upevním.“^[1] séla II. 6 Nebesa, Hospodine, slaví tvé zázraky, shromáždění svatých tvou věrnost velebí. 7 Rovná se Hospodinu někdo v oblacích? Kdo z Božích synů je jako Hospodin? 8 Velikou bázeň Bůh v radě svatých vzbuzuje, je mnohem hroznější než všichni kolem něj. 9 Hospodine Bože zástupů, kdo je jako ty – mocný Hospodin? Za všech okolností věrný jsi! 10 Ty sám jsi vládcem nad mořem bouřícím, vzedmutí jeho vln dovedeš ukrotit. 11 Ty jsi netvora jak mrtvolu rozdrtil, svou mocnou paží jsi soky rozptýlil. 12 Nebe i země tobě náleží, svět se vším, co je v něm, ty jsi založil. 13 Sever i jih – stvořil jsi obojí, Tábor i Hermon v tvém jménu jásají. 14 Mocná je paže tvá, silná ruka tvá, pravice tvá se pozvedá. 15 Právo a spravedlnost jsou tvého trůnu opora, láska a věrnost předchází tvoji tvář! 16 Blaze národu, jenž umí Hospodina velebit; ve světle tvé tváře takoví smějí žít. 17 Ve tvém jménu radují se celé dny, tvá spravedlnost jim dává vítězství. 18 Sláva jejich síly jsi přece ty sám, díky tvé milosti se náš roh pozvedá. 19 Hospodinu patří naše pavéza, Svatému izraelskému náš král! III. 20 Ve vidění jsi kdysi promluvil, tehdy jsi řekl věrným svým: „Hrdinovi jsem pomoc udělil, vybraného z lidu jsem vyvýšil. 21 Našel jsem svého služebníka Davida, svým svatým olejem jsem ho pomazal. 22 Má ruka jej bude podpírat, má paže mu bude síly dodávat. 23 Nebude jej moci vydírat nepřítel, nebude přemožen žádným zlosynem. 24 Jeho protivníky před ním rozdrtím, ty, kdo jej nenávidí, porazím. 25 Má věrnost a láska bude s ním, jeho roh se v mém jménu vyvýší. 26 Jeho ruku vložím na moře, na řekách spočine jeho pravice. 27 ‚Ty jsi můj Otec‘ – tak mě osloví – ‚ty jsi můj Bůh, skála mé záchrany!‘ 28 A tak jej prvorozeným učiním, nejvyšším bude z králů na zemi. 29 Svou lásku k němu zachovám navěky, má smlouva s ním se nikdy nezmění. 30 Jeho potomstvo ustavím navždycky, dokud potrvá nebe, jeho trůn obstojí. 31 Jeho synové když však můj Zákon opustí a nebudou se řídit mými pravidly, 32 má ustanovení jestliže poruší a nedodrží mé příkazy – 33 holí potrestám jejich poklesky a jejich provinění ranami. 34 Svou lásku však od něj neodvrátím, svou vlastní věrnost nezradím, 35 svou smlouvu nikdy neporuším, co vyšlo z mých úst, to nezměním! 36 Jednou jsem ve své svatosti přísahal – copak bych zklamal Davida? 37 Jeho potomstvo navěky potrvá, jeho trůn přede mnou bude jak slunce stát, 38 bude jak měsíc upevněn navěky – ten věrný svědek v oblacích!“ séla IV. 39 Teď jsi jej ale zavrhl, zapudil, na svého pomazaného ses rozzuřil. 40 Smlouvu se svým služebníkem zrušil jsi, jeho korunu jsi na zem zahodil. 41 Všechny jeho hradby jsi prolomil, jeho opevnění jsi rozbořil. 42 Všichni kolemjdoucí jej drancují, svým sousedům je vydán k tupení! 43 Zvedl jsi pravici jeho nepřátel, rozveselil jsi všechny jeho soupeře. 44 Ostří jeho meče jsi otupil, nechtěls ho v boji podepřít. 45 Jeho nádheře jsi konec učinil, jeho trůn jsi k zemi povalil. 46 Dny jeho mládí jsi ukrátil, zahalil jsi ho pláštěm ostudy! séla 47 Jak dlouho se, Hospodine, budeš ukrývat? Napořád? Musí tvá zuřivost jak oheň plát? 48 Jak krátký je můj život – vzpomeň si! K jaké marnosti lidstvo stvořil jsi? 49 Kdo může žít, smrt nikdy nespatřit? Kdo zachrání svůj život z moci podsvětí? séla 50 Kam se tvá první láska, Pane, poděla? Na svoji věrnost jsi Davidovi přísahal! 51 Pamatuj, Pane, jak je tvůj služebník pohrdán! Urážky všech těch národů mi padly do klína! 52 Jak jen se, Hospodine, tví nepřátelé rouhali! Tvému pomazanému se rouhali a jeho šlépějím! 53 Hospodin ať je požehnán navěky! Amen! Amen!

6 For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings^[2] is like the Lord, (Ž 86,8; Ž 89,8) 7 a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him? 28 My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm^[4] for him. (Ž 89,3) 29 I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens.
