Video: 1 Samuel in 2min

How does 1 Samuel point to Jesus? The book begins with Samuel – the last righteous judge. He stands at the threshold: between the time of the judges and the kings. Samuel obeys God. But Israel doesn't. They want a king – like the nations around them. But why? Because they reject God's rule. God warns them. Yet He grants their request. Saul is appointed. On the outside, he seems perfect – strong, handsome, respected. But pride and disobedience lead to his downfall. Then God chooses another: David. An unassuming shepherd boy. Humble, obedient, full of love for God. But before he gets the crown, he's bitterly persecuted by Saul. Multiple times David could make himself king by force. But he waits. He trusts God's timing. It's precisely in this that David points to Jesus – the true King. He too was rejected, persecuted, and even… killed. Do you see now how 1 Samuel points to Jesus?
