Ruth 4:5

English Standard Version

5 Then Boaz said, “The day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you also acquire Ruth[1] the Moabite, the widow of the dead, in order to perpetuate the name of the dead in his inheritance.” (De 25:5; Ru 3:13; Ru 4:10) 

New International Version

5 Then Boaz said, ‘On the day you buy the land from Naomi, you also acquire Ruth the Moabite, the[1] dead man’s widow, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

5 Then Boaz said, ‘When you buy the property from Naomi, you must also marry Ruth. She is from Moab and is the dead man’s widow. So you must marry her. That’s because his property must continue to belong to his family.’ 

King James Version

5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
