Romans 7:18

English Standard Version

18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. (Ge 6:5; Ge 8:21; Job 14:4; Job 15:14; Ps 51:5)

New International Version

18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[1] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

New International Reader’s Version

18 I know there is nothing good in my desires controlled by sin. I want to do what is good, but I can’t.

King James Version

18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
