Romans 3:25

English Standard Version

25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. (Ac 17:30; Ro 2:4; Ro 5:9; Eph 1:9; Eph 2:13; 1Jo 2:2)

New International Version

25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[1] through the shedding of his blood – to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished – (Le 16:15; Le 16:16)

New International Reader’s Version

25 God gave Christ as a sacrifice to pay for sins through the spilling of his blood. So God forgives the sins of those who have faith. God did all this to prove that he does what is right. He is a God of mercy. So he did not punish for their sins the people who lived before Jesus lived.

King James Version

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
