Romans 3:20

English Standard Version

20 For by works of the law no human being[1] will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. (Ps 143:2; Ac 13:39; Ro 4:15; Ro 5:13; Ro 5:20; Ro 7:7; Ga 2:16)

New International Version

20 Therefore no-one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

New International Reader’s Version

20 So no one will be considered right with God by obeying the law. Instead, the law makes us more aware of our sin.

King James Version

20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
