Psalm 39:11

English Standard Version

11 When you discipline a man with rebukes for sin, you consume like a moth what is dear to him; surely all mankind is a mere breath! (Job 13:28; Ps 39:5; Ps 49:14; Ps 80:16; Isa 50:9)

New International Version

11 When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin, you consume their wealth like a moth – surely everyone is but a breath.

New International Reader’s Version

11 You correct and punish people for their sin. Then, just as a moth eats cloth, you destroy their wealth. No one lasts any longer than a breath.

King James Version

11 When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
