Psalm 39:1

English Standard Version

1 To the choirmaster: to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. I said, “I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, so long as the wicked are in my presence.” (1Ki 2:4; 2Ki 10:31; 1Ch 16:41; 1Ch 25:1; Job 2:10; Ps 34:13; Ps 62:1; Ps 77:1)

New International Version

1 I said, ‘I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.’

New International Reader’s Version

1 I said, ‘I will be careful about how I live. I will not sin by what I say. I will keep my mouth closed when I am near sinful people.’

King James Version

1 To the chief Musician, even to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
