Proverbs 19:1

1 Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool. (Ps 26:1; Ps 26:11; Pr 14:2; Pr 20:7; Pr 28:6)

New International Version

1 Better the poor whose way of life is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.

New International Reader’s Version

1 It is better to be poor and to live without blame than to be foolish and to twist words around.
