Numbers 35:12

English Standard Version

12 The cities shall be for you a refuge from the avenger, that the manslayer may not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment. 

New International Version

12 They will be places of refuge from the avenger, so that anyone accused of murder may not die before they stand trial before the assembly. 

New International Reader’s Version

12 They will be places of safety for them. People will be safe there from those who want to kill them. Then anyone charged with murder will not die before their case has been brought to the community court. 

King James Version

12 And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.
