42 From the people of Israel’s half, which Moses separated from that of the men who had served in the army— 

New International Version

42 The half belonging to the Israelites, which Moses set apart from that of the fighting men –

42 The other half belonged to the Israelites. Moses set it apart from what belonged to the fighting men.
