Matthew 8:17

English Standard Version

17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.” (Isa 53:4; Mt 1:22) 

New International Version

17 This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.’[1] (Isa 53:4) 

New International Reader’s Version

17 This happened so that what Isaiah the prophet had said would come true. He had said, ‘He suffered the things we should have suffered. He took on himself the diseases that should have been ours.’ (Isa 53:4) 

King James Version

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
