Matthew 5:22

English Standard Version

22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother[1] will be liable to judgment; whoever insults[2] his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell[3] of fire. (Mt 5:21; Mt 5:29; Mt 18:9; Mr 9:43; Jas 3:6; 1Jo 3:15)

New International Version

22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister[1] will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, “Raca,”[2] is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, “You fool!” will be in danger of the fire of hell.

New International Reader’s Version

22 But here is what I tell you. Do not be angry with a brother or sister. Anyone who is angry with them will be judged. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, “Raca”, must stand trial in court. And anyone who says, “You fool!” will be in danger of the fire in hell.

King James Version

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
