57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. (Mr 15:42; Lu 23:50; Joh 19:38) 

New International Version

57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 

New International Reader’s Version

57 As evening approached, a rich man came from the town of Arimathea. His name was Joseph. He had become a follower of Jesus.
