Matthew 27:6

6 But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is blood money.” (Mr 12:41; Mr 12:43; Lu 21:1; Joh 8:20) 

New International Version

6 The chief priests picked up the coins and said, ‘It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

6 The chief priests picked up the coins. They said, ‘It’s against the law to put this money into the temple fund. It is blood money. It has paid for a man’s death.’ 

King James Version

6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
