59 Now the chief priests and the whole council[1] were seeking false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death, (Ac 6:11)

59 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death.

59 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for something to use against Jesus. They wanted to put him to death.
