51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword and struck the servant[1] of the high priest and cut off his ear. (Lu 22:38) 

New International Version

51 With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 

New International Reader’s Version

51 At that moment, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword. He pulled it out and struck the slave of the high priest with it. He cut off the slave’s ear. 

King James Version

51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.
