4 and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. (Mt 1:17) 

New International Version

4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 

New International Reader’s Version

4 So Herod called together all the chief priests of the people. He also called the teachers of the law. He asked them where the Messiah was going to be born. 

King James Version

4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
