8 He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. (Mr 3:5; Mr 6:52; Mr 16:14; Heb 3:8) 

New International Version

8 Jesus replied, ‘Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 

New International Reader’s Version

8 Jesus replied, ‘Moses let you divorce your wives because you were stubborn. But it was not this way from the beginning. 

King James Version

8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
