3 (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands properly,[1] holding to the tradition of the elders, (Ga 1:14; Col 2:8; Heb 11:2) 

New International Version

3 (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. 

New International Reader’s Version

3 The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands to make them ‘clean’. That’s what the elders teach. 

King James Version

3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
