English Standard Version

19 And they were striking his head with a reed and spitting on him and kneeling down in homage to him. (Mt 8:2; Mr 14:65) 

New International Version

19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spat on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. 

New International Reader’s Version

19 Again and again they hit him on the head with a stick. They spat on him. They fell on their knees and pretended to honour him. 

King James Version

19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
