47 But one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant[1] of the high priest and cut off his ear. (Lu 22:38) 

New International Version

47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 

New International Reader’s Version

47 Then one of those standing nearby pulled his sword out. He struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. 

King James Version

47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
