20 And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days. (Isa 65:8; Mt 22:14; Mr 13:22; Mr 13:27; Lu 18:7; Joh 13:18; Joh 15:19; Eph 1:4) 

New International Version

20 ‘If the Lord had not cut short those days, no-one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them. 

New International Reader’s Version

20 ‘If the Lord had not cut the time short, no one would live. But because of God’s chosen people, he has shortened it. 

King James Version

20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.
