38 Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” (Isa 51:22; Mt 26:29; Mt 26:42; Mr 14:36; Lu 9:33; Lu 12:50; Lu 22:42; Lu 23:34; Joh 18:11)

38 ‘You don’t know what you are asking,’ Jesus said. ‘Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptised with the baptism I am baptised with?’ 

New International Reader’s Version

38 ‘You don’t know what you’re asking for,’ Jesus said. ‘Can you drink the cup of suffering I drink? Or can you go through the baptism of suffering I must go through?’

38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
