16 “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her,[1] says the Lord, the God of Israel, covers[2] his garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.” (Mal 2:10; Mt 5:32; Mr 10:9; Mr 10:11; Lu 16:18; 1Co 7:10)

16 ‘The man who hates and divorces his wife,’ says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘does violence to the one he should protect,’[1] says the Lord Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful. 

New International Reader’s Version

16 ‘Suppose a man hates and divorces his wife,’ says the LORD God of Israel. ‘Then he is harming the one he should protect,’ says the LORD who rules over all. So be careful. And don’t be unfaithful. 

King James Version

16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
