English Standard Version

3 When the centurion[1] heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. (Mt 8:5) 

New International Version

3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. 

New International Reader’s Version

3 The commander heard about Jesus. So he sent some elders of the Jews to him. He told them to ask Jesus to come and heal his servant. 

King James Version

3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
