9 We get our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword in the wilderness. (Jer 6:25) 

New International Version

9 We get our bread at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the desert. 

New International Reader’s Version

9 We put our lives in danger just to get some bread to eat. Robbers in the desert might kill us with their swords. 

King James Version

9 We gat our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.
