Judges 7:2

2 The Lord said to Gideon, “The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ (De 8:17; Isa 10:13) 

New International Version

2 The Lord said to Gideon, ‘You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, “My own strength has saved me.” 

New International Reader’s Version

2 The LORD said to Gideon, ‘I want to hand Midian over to you. But you have too many men for me to do that. Then Israel might boast, “My own strength has saved me.” 

King James Version

2 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
