Judges 3:4

English Standard Version

4 They were for the testing of Israel, to know whether Israel would obey the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses. (Jud 3:1) 

New International Version

4 They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the Lord’s commands, which he had given their ancestors through Moses. 

New International Reader’s Version

4 The LORD left those nations where they were to test the Israelites. He wanted to see whether they would obey his commands. He had given those commands through Moses to their people of long ago. 

King James Version

4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
