Joshua 9:27

English Standard Version

27 But Joshua made them that day cutters of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for the altar of the Lord, to this day, in the place that he should choose. (De 12:5; Jos 9:21; Jos 9:23; 1Ch 9:2; Ezr 2:43; Ezr 8:20; Ne 7:60; Ne 11:3) 

New International Version

27 That day he made the Gibeonites woodcutters and water-carriers for the assembly, to provide for the needs of the altar of the Lord at the place the Lord would choose. And that is what they are to this day. 

New International Reader’s Version

27 That day he made them cut wood and carry water. They had to serve the community of Israel. They also had to do work connected with the altar of the LORD. The altar would be at the place the LORD would choose. And they still serve the Israelites to this day. 

King James Version

27 And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the LORD, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose.
