Joshua 7:1

English Standard Version

1 But the people of Israel broke faith in regard to the devoted things, for Achan the son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. And the anger of the Lord burned against the people of Israel. (Jos 22:20; 1Ch 2:6)

New International Version

1 But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things[1]; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri,[2] the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel. (1Ch 2:6)

New International Reader’s Version

1 But the Israelites weren’t faithful to the LORD. They didn’t destroy what had been set apart to him. So they did not do what they had been told to do. Achan had taken some of those things. So the LORD became very angry with Israel. Achan was the son of Karmi. Karmi was the son of Zimri. And Zimri was the son of Zerah. Achan and all his relatives were from the tribe of Judah.

King James Version
