40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. (2Ch 16:14; Lu 24:12; Joh 11:44; Joh 20:5; Ac 5:6)

New International Version

40 Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.

40 The two men took Jesus’ body. They wrapped it in strips of linen cloth, along with the spices. That was the way the Jews buried people.

40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
