29 The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed by the fire; in vain the refining goes on, for the wicked are not removed. (Isa 1:25; Jer 6:28)

New International Version

29 The bellows blow fiercely to burn away the lead with fire, but the refining goes on in vain; the wicked are not purged out.

New International Reader’s Version

29 The fire is made very hot so the lead will burn away. But it is impossible to make these people pure. Those who are evil are not removed.

King James Version

29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.
