Jeremiah 49:1

English Standard Version

1 Concerning the Ammonites. Thus says the Lord: “Has Israel no sons? Has he no heir? Why then has Milcom[1] dispossessed Gad, and his people settled in its cities? (1Ki 11:5; 1Ki 11:33; 2Ki 23:13; Jer 25:21; Eze 21:28; Eze 25:2; Am 1:13) 

New International Version

1 Concerning the Ammonites: This is what the Lord says: ‘Has Israel no sons? Has Israel no heir? Why then has Molek[1] taken possession of Gad? Why do his people live in its towns? 

New International Reader’s Version

1 Here is what the LORD says about the people of Ammon. He says, ‘Doesn’t Israel have any sons? Doesn’t Israel have anyone to take over the family property? Then why has the god named Molek taken over Gad? Why do those who worship him live in its towns? 

King James Version

1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?
