Jeremiah 2:8

English Standard Version

8 The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’ Those who handle the law did not know me; the shepherds[1] transgressed against me; the prophets prophesied by Baal and went after things that do not profit. (Jer 5:5; Jer 5:31; Jer 18:18; Jer 23:13; Hab 2:18; Mal 2:7; Ro 2:20) 

New International Version

8 The priests did not ask, “Where is the Lord?” Those who deal with the law did not know me; the leaders rebelled against me. The prophets prophesied by Baal, following worthless idols. 

New International Reader’s Version

8 The priests did not ask, “Where is the LORD?” Those who taught my law did not know me. The leaders refused to obey me. The prophets prophesied in the name of Baal. They worshipped worthless statues of gods. 

King James Version

8 The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
