Isaiah 42:17

English Standard Version

17 They are turned back and utterly put to shame, who trust in carved idols, who say to metal images, “You are our gods.” (Ps 97:7; Isa 1:29; Isa 44:11; Isa 45:16) 

New International Version

17 But those who trust in idols, who say to images, “You are our gods,” will be turned back in utter shame. 

New International Reader’s Version

17 Some people trust in statues of gods. They say to them, “You are our gods.” But they will be dishonoured. They will be put to shame. 

King James Version

17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.
