5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. (Job 5:17; Pr 3:11) 

New International Version

5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, ‘My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 

New International Reader’s Version

5 Have you completely forgotten this word of hope? It speaks to you as a father to his children. It says, ‘My son, think of the Lord’s training as important. Do not lose hope when he corrects you.

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
