16 Then they journeyed from Bethel. When they were still some distance[1] from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor, and she had hard labor. 

New International Version

16 Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and had great difficulty. 

New International Reader’s Version

16 They moved on from Bethel. Ephrath wasn’t very far away when Rachel began to have a baby. She was having a very hard time of it. 

King James Version

16 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
