English Standard Version

17 When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. 

New International Version

17 When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking brazier with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. 

New International Reader’s Version

17 The sun set and it became dark. Then a burning torch and a pot filled with smoking coals appeared. They passed between the pieces of the animals that had been cut in two. 

King James Version

17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
