10 Now there was a famine in the land. So Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land. (Ge 26:1; Ge 43:1) 

New International Version

10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe. 

New International Reader’s Version

10 At that time there was not enough food in the land. So Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while. 

King James Version

10 And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.
