Ezra 9:2

English Standard Version

2 For they have taken some of their daughters to be wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race[1] has mixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost.” (Ex 34:16; De 7:3; De 7:6; Ezr 10:2; Ne 10:30; Ne 13:23; Ne 13:27; Ps 106:35; 2Co 6:14)

New International Version

2 They have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, and have mingled the holy race with the peoples around them. And the leaders and officials have led the way in this unfaithfulness.’

New International Reader’s Version

2 The men of Israel have married the daughters of some of those people. They’ve also taken some of those women for their sons to marry. So they’ve mixed our holy nation with the nations around us. We leaders and officials have also married women who don’t worship the LORD. By doing this, we have led the way in breaking our covenant with the LORD.’

King James Version

2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
