7 and seized[1] their widows. He laid waste their cities, and the land was appalled and all who were in it at the sound of his roaring. 

New International Version

7 He broke down[1] their strongholds and devastated their towns. The land and all who were in it were terrified by his roaring. 

New International Reader’s Version

7 He broke down their forts. He completely destroyed their towns. The land and all those who were in it were terrified when he roared. 

King James Version

7 And he knew their desolate palaces, and he laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, by the noise of his roaring.
