24 At a lodging place on the way the Lord met him and sought to put him to death. (Ge 17:14; Nu 22:22; 1Ch 21:16) 

New International Version

24 At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses[1] and was about to kill him. 

New International Reader’s Version

24 On the way to Egypt, Moses stopped for the night. There the LORD met him and was about to kill him. 

King James Version

24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
