12 Take care, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which you go, lest it become a snare in your midst. (Ex 23:32; Ex 23:33; De 7:2; Jos 23:12; Jud 2:2) 

New International Version

12 Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare among you. 

New International Reader’s Version

12 Be careful. Do not make a peace treaty with those who live in the land where you are going. They will be a trap to you.
