12 But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command delivered by the eunuchs. At this the king became enraged, and his anger burned within him. 

New International Version

12 But when the attendants delivered the king’s command, Queen Vashti refused to come. Then the king became furious and burned with anger. 

New International Reader’s Version

12 The attendants told Queen Vashti what the king had ordered her to do. But she refused to come. So the king became very angry. 

King James Version

12 But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king' commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him.
