English Standard Version

5 All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides very many unwalled villages. 

New International Version

5 All these cities were fortified with high walls and with gates and bars, and there were also a great many unwalled villages. 

New International Reader’s Version

5 All those cities had high walls around them. The city gates were made secure with heavy metal bars. There were also large numbers of villages that didn’t have walls. 

King James Version

5 All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.
