Deuteronomy 15:17

English Standard Version

17 then you shall take an awl, and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your slave[1] forever. And to your female slave[2] you shall do the same. 

New International Version

17 then take an awl and push it through his ear lobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life. Do the same for your female servant. 

New International Reader’s Version

17 Then take him to the door of your house. Poke a hole through his earlobe into the doorpost. And he will become your servant for life. Do the same with your female servant. 

King James Version

17 Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.
