8 Then all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or make known to the king the interpretation. (Ge 41:8; Da 2:27; Da 4:7; Da 4:18; Da 5:15) 

New International Version

8 Then all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king what it meant. 

New International Reader’s Version

8 Then all the king’s wise men came in. But they couldn’t read the writing. They couldn’t tell him what it meant. 

King James Version

8 Then came in all the king' wise men : but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
